Special Thank Yous!
December saw us launching 2 new services (Lash Perfect Eyelash Extensions and The Mens Hot Towel Wet Shave Treatment) that required volunteers for us to complete our assessments.
Lash Perfect Eyelash Extentions
Next time you are in MacKenzie Stewart Hairdressers in Balloch check out Alison and Lauras eyelashes. They look thick, natural and stunning. Thanks to you both for volunteering at this busy time of year.
Mens Wet Shave Treatment
Last week saw 50 men between the ages of 17 and 75 pass through our doors to experience The Haven Wet Shave Treatment. Mark Sproston (otherwise known in the industry as The Shave Doctor) spent 2 days with us assessing our techniques, skills and abilities before awarding all therapists with a Gold level qualification in the art of Wet Shaving.
This service is now available as part of our new Mens Treatment Range. Gift Vouchers for this treatment are available from £22 and can be purchased on-line or in store now.
For those gents who prefer to be shaved by a man, Eric will be at The Haven twice a week offering the Wet Shave service from mid Dec (some of you may have already met my husband so be nice to him if you should bump into him and he doesn't bite-honest!).
The Lennox 'Ask the Haven' feature
Our regular column will be featured once again in the Lennox newspaper shortly. This week Ailie answers a question from a Helensburgh reader worried about how to create a good impression on her Christmas Night Out.
Q:I have been invited to my boyfriends company Christmas night out at a very up market hotel in Edinburgh. I want to make a good impression although have a limited budget. I have chosen my outfit but feel that my make-up needs updating. I have worn the same foundation, eye shadow colours and blusher for about 10 years. Any ideas?
Shona from Helensburgh.
A:
You are right. It's so important to make sure your make-up reflects your personality as well as your image on the night. Many of us fall into the trap of getting used to the same old colours and find it's just easier to stick with what we know. There have been some amazing advances in Make-up technology recently and your skin no longer has to pay the price for looking good.
One of the big innovations has been the introduction of Mineral Make up. ID Bare Escentual are still the only range that is 100% pure minerals although other companies such as Rimmel and L'Oreal now offer a similar product at 98%. It really is Make-up you can go to bed in (without looking 20 years older next morning!). It's important to make sure you use the correct shade for your skin tones. We'd be happy to help you find the best shade, give us a call and book a free 15 min consultation and we'll sort that out for you. There are some great Christmas starter Kits out this year too so the cost doesn't need to put you off.
Sultry lips are a must this Winter. Dark Berry tones, rich Burgundies and melting Chocolates are the order of the day. Make sure you blend your lip liner to prevent 'bleeding' and to define shape. Don't be afraid to make your lips stand out, especially if you know there are cameras about.
Eyes this year are all about shimmering metallics and smoky effects. ID's 'Drama', 'Celestine' and 'Soul' blend together well for a great evening look but can be worn muted for daytime too. Choose shades that suit (but not necessarily match) your own eye colour. Deep plums and lilacs are great for lighter coloured eyes while soft gold, bronze and copper tones are better for dark eyes.
Above all, relax, feel confident and enjoy yourself.
Ailie Houston, Therapist.
